Hashtag campaigns are often short-lived, receding when the events that inspire them fall out of the headlines. #BringBackOurGirls, #YesAllWomen and #JeSuisCharlie proved similarly tied to the news cycle. But while #ShoutYourAbortion was inspired by current events, Bonow believed that the campaign could continue beyond the life span of a typical hashtag.
