Tim CLUTTON-BROCK, Zoologist from Cambridge University

Abstract: Although ecologists have traditionally treated animal populations as if they consisted of random collections of individuals, many vertebrates live in highly structured societies whose characteristics have profound effects on ecological and evolutionary processes.  This lecture describes the diversity of mammalian societies; their effects on the characteristics of females and males; and the evolution of cooperation in humans and other animals.
