Speaking Workshop: The Art of Improvisation - Tips for Oral Improvisation
A workshop to help students speak in public
As part of our activities, we organized an interactive workshop focused on improvisation, led by coach Frédéric Sourbié. The workshop was filled with practical and fun exercises, ranging from improvisational games to realistic role-playing scenarios. Each participant had the chance to express themselves in a supportive environment, experiment with new techniques, and receive constructive feedback.
Key takeaways: confidence, listening, and spontaneity
The objectives of the workshop were to boost self-confidence, develop active listening skills, encourage spontaneity, and improve speech coherence.
Hands-on exercises to manage stress and emotions
The various exercises taught us how to manage our emotions and overcome stress when it comes to public speaking. One fun activity involved telling a story as a group: each person contributed a word to form a coherent narrative. This required developing the ability to listen attentively and respond appropriately.
Taking the plunge: students improvise without a script
Another exercise aimed to set aside prepared speeches and encourage participants to speak spontaneously, adapting to unexpected prompts. This exercise took place in front of the entire class, where audience members would give an original theme, and each participant had to speak on it for 2 minutes.
"Even in improvisation, it is essential to maintain a clear structure and coherent ideas."
A fun, interactive experience well-received by attendees
This workshop is aimed at anyone wishing to enhance their speaking abilities and social skills while enjoying pleasant, interactive, and fun moments.
